On Thursday, Jefferson County Commission President David Carrington announced that the sale if the county nursing home is back on track.
Northport Holdings agreed to by the nursing home beds for $11-million, but HealthSouth challenged the sale. On Wednesday, HealthSouth won approval for a rehabilitation center in Shelby County and dropped their challenge.
Carrington says the sale will be excellent for the county. He feels the $11-million, cutting the losses from the home and the new business licenses will be a boost to the county.
There is no word on when the sale will be finalized. Northport Holdings is expected to offer jobs to some of the county workers at the nursing home.
