BIRMINGHAM, AL (WBRC) -

Ten Birmingham students have headed to Washington, D.C. for the trip of a lifetime: to attend the 57th Presidential Inauguration.

These 10 students from W.J. Christian Elementary, L.M. Middle School, and Huffman Middle and High schools were selected to participate in this trip because of their academic achievements and community leadership.

The kids and their chaperones left from the Lakeshore Drive Sam's Club/WalMart shopping center Friday around 6 p.m. The students will also tour the Kennedy Center, the Smithsonian National Museum of African Arts and the MLK Memorial Monument.
