Birmingham employees looking for soil testing permissions

Posted: Updated:
BIRMINGHAM, AL (WBRC) -

Birmingham city employees will be out canvassing the Collegeville neighborhood on Wednesday. They are working to get permission from homeowners so the EPA can test their soil for pollutants.

This is all because of potential contamination from the Walter Coke Company in North Birmingham.

The Birmingham employees need 1600 signatures to move forward with the sampling to determine if there is pollution. Right now, they have nine-hundred homeowners on board.
