GOOD DAY CHALLENGE - The Good Day Challenge kicks off tomorrow. Are you going to join us? Dr. Asa Andrew - our health and lifestyle expert designed a plan just for good day.... it's a 30 day plan to kick off a healthier lifestyle! We reviewed Dr. Asa's guidelines for us and looked at the foods he recommends we remove from our diet for these 30 days and the foods we should incorporate. You can find all of his pointers for this Challenge on our website at MyFoxAL.com. Click on the Good Day link and look for the link to the Good Day Challenge. You can even print out your own copy that includes a food diary. Dr. Asa also gave us some suggestions for meals following these guidelines.
BREAKFAST: 2 Eggs (cooked any style), Bowl of fresh berries, Green tea
MID-MORNING SNACK: Piece of fruit, Almonds
LUNCH: Salmon, Fresh asparagus, Brown rice, Hhalf an avocado
AFTERNOON SNACK: Small greek yogurt, plain, Tablespoon of honey
DINNER: Chicken or steak, Broccoli, Black eye peas
EVENING SNACK: Olives, Goat cheese
While Dr. Asa has recommendations of what to keep in your diet and what you can eliminate, he WANTS US to remember that we can't always stick to this plan for every single meal. Over the next 30 days you may have some special events ( valentine's day, a birthday, even a church dinner). Enjoy yourself at those meals and don't feel guilty! He says stick to the plan as much as possible but look ahead at your schedule and know if you need to go off the plan for a meal or two each week.... just be sure to jump back on as soon as possible! And don't forget - if you want to join us on this challenge, visit the Good Day Alabama Facebook page and share your story with us!
JEH JEH LIVE - Jeh Jeh joined us live from Bessemer where they're planning a "Stop the Violence Rally" later today. The S.T.R.A.P. Foundaion, Councilor David Vance from the Bessemer City Council, and the Parents Against Violence group are hosting the rally to help curb the violence in Bessemer City Schools. The Bessemer Board of Education, the Mayor's office, and the Bessemer Police Department are also helping out. There will be a "mock" funeral processional leaving the Chambers Funeral Home escorted by the Bessemer Police and the Jefferson County Sheriff Department to the Bessemer City High School for a program for the students to prevent them from a life of crime, prison, and untimely death. The motorcade leaves the funderal home at 8:40am and the program at the school begins at 9am. The goal of this event is to prevent the youth in the City of Bessemer from a life of crime, prison, and untimely death.
