TUSCALOOSA, AL (WBRC) -

A man was arrested in Tuscaloosa yesterday for attempting to rape a woman after showing up on her front porch, officials say.

A 23-year-old female told authorities that the suspect, 29-year-old Justin Broadrick, knocked on the door of her home on Century Drive Tuesday afternoon.

The woman said she spoke with Broadrick for a few minutes on the porch before going back inside her home, but Broadrick didn't leave. When she turned around, he had come into her home uninvited, closed the door and tried to kiss her, according to Captain Loyd Baker.

The victim told police she resisted, and Broadrick grabbed her by the neck and attempted to rape her. The woman fought him off, and he gave up but hit her in the face before leaving.

Deputies with the Tuscaloosa County Sheriff's Office responded to the report of an attempted rape around 1:30 p.m. Tuesday, Jan. 29.

Broadrick was arrested on an attempted rape charge and booked into jail on a $15,000 bond.
