MARSHALL COUNTY, AL (WAFF) -

Law enforcement officials are searching for a man involved in a multi-county pursuit.

Marshall County Sheriff's deputies said they were in Pleasant Grove looking for unrelated suspects.

Deputies attempted to stop a Ford Mustang and Nissan Maxima, but both vehicles fled.

A pursuit ensued. The driver of the Nissan rammed a sheriff's cruiser. The pursuit continued into Nixon Chapel and to Blount County.

The driver of the Mustang, Phillip Pointer, ran off the road and lost control at the intersection of 278 and County Road 25.

Pointer was armed with a gun. Deputies were able to arrest him. He was charged with attempting to elude and reckless endangerment.

The Nissan continued onto Rocky Branch Road before the driver bailed out and ran into the woods.

Deputies searched through the night but did not find the driver.

The Nissan was reported stolen out of Lincoln County.

Marshall County Drug Enforcement Unit, Douglas Police, Blount County Sheriff's Office, Alabama State Troopers, and Oneonta Police assisted.

The driver of the Nissan is still at large.
