A benefit motorcycle ride is in the works to raise money for a Heflin police officer injured in the line of duty. Officer Jackie Stovall was shot on Dec. 15, 2012 while pursuing a triple homicide suspect. He was hospitalized after the shooting and underwent surgery for his injury.
The benefit ride has been scheduled for March 9 with a rain date of March 16. It will be held at the Mt. Cheaha Harley Davidson on Davis Loop Road in Oxford. The cost for the ride is $25 per bike and $10 per passenger. Registration will be at 8 a.m. and the ride will begin at 10 a.m.
All proceeds from the ride will go to Officer Stovall and his family, according to the flyer made by the organizers, the Expendables MC West GA Chapter and Alexandria AL chapter.
