SHELBY COUNTY, AL (WBRC) -

Shelby County deputies have reopened portions of Shelby County Highways 11 after clearing a vehicle wreck with injuries.

Deputies urge motorists to continue to use caution in the areas where Highway 11 intersect with Highway 377 and Old Highway 280 as there may be heavy traffic and emergency crews still nearby.

Deputies had closed a portion of Shelby County Highway 11 this afternoon where it intersected with Highway 377, also known as Mountain Crest Road, and at Old Highway 280.

The Shelby County Sheriff's Office says drivers were not allowed to access Old Highway 280 from Highway 11. The sheriff's office is expecting "serious travel delays" due to the traffic congestion from the accident, which happened around 1:52 p.m.

"Motorists are encouraged to drive with caution, seek alternate travel routes and be patient as first responders help the injured and clear the roadway," the sheriff's office said in a release.

Officials did not release any other information about the wreck or the extent of injuries. Check back with this story for updates.
