Saddle up, get ready to ride and rope for a good cause in east Alabama!
Storybook Farm provides free equine therapy to more than 800 children, and they are hosting Cowboy Roundup this Saturday Feb. 9 and next Saturday Feb. 16, a family fun and fundraising event to support their ministry.
Dinner will be provided by the Irish Bred Pub. Cowboys will be performing roping and riding demonstrations. Wild West games and prizes along with puppets and rodeo clowns will also be on hand to entertain families.
"The horses are a great equalizer, provide legs for children who have ambulatory issues or are in wheeler chairs, kids can get up on horseback and participate in events like other kids do," said owner and founder Dena Little. "For kids who have emotional needs, horses can speak to them in a way that sometimes people can't and for kids that feel isolated or alone, Storybook Farms as a whole provides a place that they can feel they belong to something bigger than themselves."
Tickets are on sale now at their website. They are $30 for one adult and child, and additional adult tickets are $10 with additional child tickets costing $5.
