Birmingham police say that two people are dead and a young boy was injured following a two-vehicle wreck on Lakeshore Parkway.
The reality of the crash is sinking in for family and friends of the Center Point couple killed in the wreck. The Jefferson County Coroner's Office has identified the victims as Lashonda Kelly, 38, and Ramond Kelly, 40, both of Birmingham.
Their 11-year-old son, Devin Lucky, was rushed to the hospital last night. Officials say that Lucky is out of surgery to treat his injuries and remains at Children's of Alabama.
The accident happened on Lakeshore Parkway at Sydney Drive Tuesday around 7 p.m. Police say that the Kellys were turning left onto Sydney Drive from Lakeshore Parkway when they were hit by a pickup truck.
Lucky goes to W.J. Christian School where he is in the gifted program. Principal Michael Davis says the trio are a great and nice family. That's also the way the Kellys neighbors in Center Point described them.
Their neighbors were too shocked or saddened to go on camera, but they say that Lucky played with a lot of the local children. One woman says she had just spoken to LaShonda Kelly Tuesday about a weekend sleepover.
The cause of the wreck is still under investigation haven't ruled out fog as a factor in the crash. FOX6 News Reporter John Huddleston said Tuesday night that there was heavy fog in the area.
