Just one week away from grand opening, media had the opportunity to tour the $50 million, nine story, 294-room Westin Birmingham hotel.
"Very anxious. It's one week away. The clock is ticking," Mark Noyes, Complex General Manager for THe Birmingham Westin and Birmingham Sheraton, said.
The hotel has hired 260 associates who continues to undergo training as opening day approaches.
Guests are greeted with a wall of vegetation once they walk into the hotel. The hotel also has a workout room where guests can get workout gear. The rooms start at $179 dollars and deluxe suites start at $1,200.
"I think the people are going to feel comfortable. I think people will enjoy the ambience the hotel sets and the quality of service," Noyes said.
The hotel also boasts a terrace with bar and pool. Downstairs, the Todd English Pub bar and restaurant will have a variety of food and drink as well as musical entertainment.
"The vibe as soon as you walk in is comfortable. We are going to have the type of place you can be sitting at the bar with a three piece suit and the guy next to him is going to have a tank top, shorts and maybe one flip flop," Brad Kleiss, General Manager for Todd English Pub, said.
The hotel has already selected the person who registered online as their first guest and that person will receive a big surprise after checking in Thursday: an 11-day stay with the hotel.
