Tuscaloosa police cite store over sweepstakes violation

The Tuscaloosa Police Code Enforcement Division say they have received multiple complaints from a business called "Mama's Store" located on Skyland Blvd. Officers say the store is selling illegal "scratch and peel" pre-paid phone cards and paying instant cash to customers for the winning cards.

An undercover police officer was sold a winning ticket.

The manager of the store was issued a city citation for a code of Tuscaloosa sweepstakes violation which is a class c misdemeanor.
