Westover and Monroe High Schools are big rivals in any athletic competition.

Monday morning the football teams shared a nice meal and congratulations for a great season.

The Dougherty County School System honoring Westover and Monroe with a "Breakfast of Champions" celebration.

Both teams finished with eight win seasons and both made it to the second round of the Georgia High School Association state football playoffs.

Westover finished second in the region thanks to a three point win over the Tornadoes.

Monroe finished in third place.

Both coaches are proud of the hard work their players put in to make the 2012 season so successful.

"This is bragging rights for our team today. we have the edge going into next season but we have to work hard to maintain that edge. everybody is going to want to come shoot for a team that has the opportunity to do the things we did this past season," said Westover coach Octavia Jones.

"We felt coming in that we had a chance to have a good season. we didn't accomplish alot of the goals we wanted to accomplish. All in all I think we had a good season and the kids played well," said Monroe coach Charles Truitt.

Monroe has been to the 2nd round of the GHSA playoffs for two straight years.

This was Westover's first playoff trip since 2007.
