Nicholas Carson McCloy was arrested Friday, Feb. 8 after being indicted by a grand jury for sexual abuse of a child less than 12 and first degree sodomy.
The investigation began in August 2012 when deputies responded to a sexual assault report at a Pinson home. The victim's mother said her daughter had just told her McCloy had sexually abused her.
The victim told deputies that McCloy began sexually abusing her when she was 12 and it had continued until she was 14 years old. She said she had been afraid to tell anyone because McCloy had threatened her and her mother if she didn't keep it their secret, the Jefferson County Sheriff's Office said in a release.
Detectives presented the case to a grand jury in January 2013, and the grand jury indicted McCloy on the sex abuse charges. McCloy posted a $90,000 bond and has been released from jail, according to the sheriff's office.
