Birmingham woman turns 104 on Valentine's Day

Ruth Farley is known for bringing her caramel cakes to church potlucks, but today her class celebrated with cupcakes and other sweets.

BIRMINGHAM, AL (WBRC) -

A Birmingham woman and member of Palisades Church of Christ is turning 104 on Valentine's Day.

Ruth Farley and the ladies in her Bible class celebrated her birthday a couple days early with a luncheon at the church today.

Ms. Ruth still lives on her own, comes to church every Sunday and says she doesn't have any big secrets to her longevity.

"Just followed nature I guess. It all comes along. Just take it as it comes, makes it the easy way," she said.

Ms. Ruth's friends say she's famous for her caramel cakes that she brings to potluck dinners and other special occasions at the church.
