Hoover police have confirmed that former agricultural commissioner candidate Dale Peterson was arrested for third degree theft for shoplifting on October 1 of last year.
This happened at the Wal-Mart on Highway 150. He was booked under the name Rodger Dale Peterson, according to Hoover police.
His unique campaign commercials to become Alabama Ag. Commissioner went viral online though his campaign was ultimately unsuccessful.
Peterson was last in the news in January, issuing a statement saying he was declining a job offer from the man who beat him to become Ag. Commissioner. Peterson said the job offer was a scam, designed to neutralize him from any potential run in the future. Commissioner John McMillan has denied Peterson's claims.
We will have more information as the news is available.
