Another name change is in the works for Cooper Green Mercy Hospital.
FOX6 reported earlier that Jefferson County Manager Tony Petelos offered the name Cooper Green Health Services for commissioners to consider.
The county turned over its hospital license on Jan. 1, 2013. The county then turned the hospital into an urgent care and clinic operaton.
Today, some commissioners balked at dropping "Mercy" from the name of the facility. Commissioner George Bowman urged and others agreed to restore Mercy to the new name.
"The name speaks to the passion of the organization. It speaks to the heart of the delivery of health services to the public," Bowman said.
But there are critics.
"It is not a health service, it's a disaster. So they can call it whatever they like. The system is not working," Maralyn Mosley with the Committee to Save Cooper Green said.
Petelos says it will cost the county to make the name chance but he is not sure of the exact expense just yet.
