
A major blood drive begins at UAB to help replenish a national shortage of blood. Organizers hope to collect donations of "o" negative blood.
UAB is one of the largest users of blood supplied by the Red Cross. They want to let donors know blood can be given up to six times a year, every eight weeks.
Part of the blood drive will be held this week, Feb. 18-23 at the UAB Hospital North Pavilion and then at UAB Highlands Feb. 26, 28 and March. 1.
Detailed hours for each location are:
North Pavilion:
Monday, Feb. 18, 10 a.m. to 5 p.m.
Tuesday, Feb. 19, 10 a.m. to 5 p.m.
Wednesday, Feb. 20, 7 a.m. to 2 p.m.
Thursday, Feb. 21, 10 a.m. to 5 p.m.
Friday, Feb. 22, 10 a.m. to 5 p.m.
Saturday, Feb. 23, 10 a.m. to 5 p.m.
Highlands Hospital:
Tuesday, Feb. 26, 9 a.m. to 3 p.m.
Thursday, Feb. 28, 11 a.m. to 5 p.m.
Friday, Mar. 1, 6:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m.
Donors should bring a photo id and cam make an appointment for either drive by visiting givelife.org, using sponsor code UAB or by calling 1-800-733-2767.
