
Cooper Green Mercy Health Services. Source: WBRC photoLater this week, Jefferson County lawmakers will consider a pair of bills dealing with the future of Cooper Green Mercy Health Services.
State Representative John Rogers is sponsoring a bill requiring a detailed audit of how all money is spent out of the indigent care fund on medical care for the poor. Rogers is also backing a bill which will allow the city of Birmingham to take control of the urgent care and clinic.
The city of Birmingham tried suing the county in an effort to keep the facility a hospital but a federal bankruptcy judge rejected the suit.
The Jefferson County legislative delegation meets on Wednesday.
