Police: Suspect who attacked Birmingham officers in custody

BIRMINGHAM, AL (WBRC) -

A suspect is in custody and en route to jail after Birmingham police say he attacked two officers Monday around 5pm.

Birmingham police officers were investigating a suspicious vehicle in the 1400 block of 22nd Street North and found three people inside. During their investigation, a person exited the vehicle and bit an officer in an arm. A second officer arrived to assist and was bitten in the face by the suspect.

Sgt. Johnny Williams says the officers were treated at the scene and head to a hospital for observation.

The name of the suspect has not been released.
