A masked gunman knocked on the door of a Gadsden home yesterday and shot a man in the face when he answered, police said today.
The attack happened around 2:30 p.m. Monday, Feb. 18 at a home in the 1100 block of Grant Avenue. Gadsden Police say the victim, 20-year-old Tavarius Perkins, opened the door of his home and saw a person in a mask standing there with a gun pointed at his face.
Perkins tried to shut the door, but the suspect fired once before fleeing, Captain Bobby Jackson said. The bullet hit Perkins on the cheek. He was treated at Gadsden Regional Medical Center and his wound is not life-threatening, police said.
Gadsden police continue to investigate the case.
