BIRMINGHAM, AL (WBRC) -

Two men are charged with capital murder following a shooting near a Birmingham nightclub.

The victim of the shooting is identified as Oscar Wayne Johnson, a 22-year-old from Birmingham.

Police believe the shooting was the result of a fight that began inside the Downtown Lounge on 1st Avenue north, and escalated when the parties involved were removed from the club, Sgt. Johnny Williams said.

Around 2 a.m. Sunday, Birmingham police officers saw the suspects in a car shooting at Johnson in the 10 block of 17th Street North. An officer and a security guard shot back at the suspects, who managed to get away.

The suspects' car was later found on 1st Avenue North, and two people were taken into custody after trying to leave in another car.

Johnson was taken to UAB Hospital and pronounced dead soon after arrival.

Birmingham Police charge Major Pasley, 19, of Birmingham, with capital murder with no bond. Pasley also faces three attempted murder warrants listing the two Birmingham Police officers and a security guard as victims. In addition, he is charged with two counts of discharging a firearm into an unoccupied vehicle.

The second suspect in the case, 21-year-old Antonio Woodard of Birmingham, is charged with capital murder with no bond. Both suspects are being held in the Jefferson County Jail.

The ABI investigated the case since it involved a Birmingham police officer.
