GSW battling for PBC berth

GSW battling for PBC berth

AMERICUS, GA (WALB) -

Georgia Southwestern facing a key conference game on the road at Clayton State on Saturday.

Heading into the final week of the regular season, Georgia Southwestern is tied with the Lakers for third place in the PBC west division standings.

Columbus State is just a game back.

If the Canes win and the Cougars lose this weekend, Georgia Southwestern would clinch a conference tournament berth.

Something that didn't seem likely when the Canes lost nine out of ten games last month.

"They did a good job of just focusing on the next practice and the next game as opposed of not getting wrapped up in the big picture where it wasn't going well.  We have been able to win five out of our last six games and will play meaningful games at the end of February," said head coach Mike Leeder.

Georgia Southwestern will close out the regular season at home next Saturday against North Georgia.
