JEFFERSON COUNTY, AL (WBRC) -

A Quinton woman is facing multiple charges after officials say she broke into her ex-boyfriend's house and attacked him and a female inside the home.

The victims told deputies they had been sleeping in a bedroom when they heard someone pounding on the front door around 3:30 a.m. Sunday, Feb. 24. The home is located in the 500 block of Jalna Road in Forestdale.

The male victim recognized the person pounding on the door as his ex-girlfriend and refused to open it, Chief Deputy Randy Christian said in a release. The Jefferson County Sheriff's Office identified the suspect as Nina Queena Taylor, 31, of Quinton.

Officials say Taylor broke the bedroom window, climbed inside and sprayed the female victim in the face with a chemical defense spray. The female victim rushed to the bathroom to wash it out of her face, and was "struck in the head with an unknown object" as she ran past Taylor, Christian said.

Chief Christian said the male victim and Taylor started arguing, then Taylor pulled a pistol that was kept underneath the mattress and threatened to kill both victims. The female victim managed to escape and ran away to call 911 from a neighbor's house. As she fled, she heard a single gunshot fired. Deputies say Taylor then also sprayed her former boyfriend with a chemical defense spray.

Once deputies arrived to the scene, they found Taylor clutching the defense spray in one hand and the gun in the other. She tossed them onto a couch when she saw law enforcement officers arrive. Deputies took Taylor into custody without further incident.

Deputies learned that Taylor had tried to prevent the victims from leaving or calling for help by taking their money and cell phones and the female victim's car keys. Deputies said the shot fired was aimed at the female victim's car and went through the windshield.

Paramedics treated both victims at the scene for their injuries. Neither victim went to the hospital for further treatment.

Taylor is being held in the Jefferson County Jail on a $59,000 bond for the following charges: attempted murder, domestic violence, unlawful breaking and entering a vehicle, second degree assault, menacing, criminal mischief, criminal use of defense spray, first degree burglary and robbery.
