Jason Harney sent us this photo of the smoke from the burning tanker trucks seen from a shop across the street. Source: Twitter/@Jason99z28The Cullman County EMA says a tanker truck and flatbed trailer caught fire at exit 299 in Dodge City.
No one was injured in the fire, which happened at a Conoco gas station, and the drivers were not in the trucks at the time.
The fire is currently out and is under investigation. State Fire Marshals are on the scene along with Cullman County deputies and firefighters from Cullman, Dodge City and Good Hope.
Good Hope Fire Chief David Scott says that the tanker was carrying 3,800 gallons of argon, a liquid refrigerant. He says that at this time, investigators believe the argon caught fire and caused the incident.
Reporter Karen Church reports that as of 2:15 p.m. one side of the Conoco gas station where the fire occurred is closed while investigators and firefighters work. They planned to remove the diesel from the trucks and spread sand to contain the chemicals.
