Birmingham fire officials say that a recent house fire was an accident.
The fire happened at a home on 4th Avenue West and badly damaged the home. Belinda Parnell, who is a caregiver for Ricky Williams, the man who lived at the home, was badly hurt while guiding the wheelchair-bound man out of the house.
Battalion Chief C.W. Mardis says a preliminary investigation shows that the fire started from some kind of heating unit.
