Birmingham Police have arrested and charged a man with capital murder in the
shooting death of a 23-year-old man March 4.
Charles Gregory, 23 of Birmingham has is in custody at the Jefferson County
Jail. Police say that he shot and killed 23-year-old Anatwon Cowans of Birmingham in the
Mark's Village community near Gate City.
Police said Monday that they believed Cowans was shot somewhere in the apartment
community, got into his car to get away and ultimately crashed into a utility
pole.
