Source: WBRC videoGetting help with a stray animal in Tuscaloosa can take weeks and it's a problem a grassroots group is working to solve.
Ever since animal control duties were turned over to the county, there hasn't been a defined list of regulations that can guide county workers in handling stray animals. In addition, the animal control office is down to one full time employee.
The issues have prompted Sherry Tingle and a friend to form a Alliance for Animal Welfare that aims to help animal control. There will be a preliminary community meeting Marh 19 to discuss policies that can help build a better system. Mayors from all county municipalities and community members are invited.
