Source: Exceptional Foundation's Facebook PageThe Exceptional Foundation announced Monday that their ninth annual Chili Cook-Off raised $206,000 for their special needs programs.
The cook-off was held Saturday, March 2 and the money will help fund social and recreational activities the foundation provides for special needs children and adults all over Birmingham.
More than 7,000 people sampled nearly 100 different types of chili. The event may have even had a special boost from cold weather that day.
The Red Hot Chili Mutuals team, fielded by Northwestern Mutual, took home the Grand Prize. Zen Yogurt and The Cooking Counselors of Haskett Slaughter were first and second runners up, respectively. Team Vines earned the People's Choice award and IBERIABANK received the Spirit Award.
