Police: Woman OK after car plummets into ravine

Irondale Police and Fire retrieved a driver from a deep ravine near the intersection of Alton Road and Queenstown Road around 6 p.m. Thursday.

The woman called police after she plummeted 75 to 100 feet and stayed on the phone until police and firemen located her, though authorities say she was a tough find initially.

Police activated their sirens so the woman could help police find her.

She was alert when she was taken to a hospital and is expected to be OK.
