VESTAVIA HILLS, AL (WBRC) -

Vestavia Hills' city manager has resigned. Randy Robertson said his resignation became official at noon Friday.

He says he is leaving because his father-in-law, who lives in Kentucky, is sick. Robertson said he and his wife want to spend more time with him.

Robertson accepted the position of city manager in January 2012.

The mayor of Vestavia Hills, Alberto Zaragoza, could not be reached for comment.
