Stephen Marc Stone
HUNTSVILLE, AL (WAFF) -
The Huntsville man accused of killing his wife and son had a felony exam hearing on Wednesday.
For a felony exam hearing,
a suspect is officially presented with their charges.
In this case, Stephen Marc Stone is
charged with two counts of capital murder and was asked if he needed a court
appointed attorney.
Stone was not in court on
Wednesday because he chose to take care of all of this from the Metro Jail, where he is being held without bond.
Stone declared he could
not afford an attorney, so he has been appointed two attorneys, which is common
in a capital murder case.
His attorneys are Bryan Clark
and Lonzo Robinson.
Investigators said he strangled his wife, Krista, and strangled and drowned his 7-year-old son, Zachary.
Huntsville Police found their bodies in the family's home on Chickamauga Trail in South Huntsville.
Police said after the murders, Stone drove to the Leeds Police Department and confessed to the killings.
With a capital murder
charge, Stone faces a possible death sentence if convicted.
