MORRIS, AL (WBRC) -

The man hit and killed by a train last Friday at the Morris Majestic Road railroad crossing has been identified.

Detectives with the Jefferson County Sheriff's Office identify the man as Gregory McMillin, a 34-year-old from Morris.

Deputies responded to the crossing at Morris-Majestic Road on a report of a pedestrian hit by a train around 9:30 p.m. Friday, March 15. They were told that a man had been seen on the tracks and he appeared to ignore the train's horn.

After a search, authorities found the McMillin's body along the tracks about 150 yards south of Happy Top Road around 10:45 p.m. He was pronounced dead on the scene.

Chief Deputy Randy Christian said it was not immediately clear why McMillin was on the tracks.
