Opelika murder suspect arrested without incident

Opelika Police have arrested Montavious Kentrell Askew for the murder of Andrew Jones.

Askew turned himself in to authorities at the Opelika Police Department on Thursday and was arrested without incident. He will be transferred to the Lee County Detention Facility.

Authorities say Askew shot Jones in the abdomen on Sunday March 17 on Dogwood Avenue in Opelika. Jones, 29, was taken to the East Alabama Medical Center but later died from his injuries.
