Talladega County is welcoming their new sheriff Jimmy Kilgore, who was officially sworn in Monday.
Today a second, more formal ceremony was held for the public.
The man he's replacing, longtime sheriff Jerry Studdard, joined Kilgore's wife in holding the Bible at today's ceremony.
Kilgore has worked with the department for 25 years. He was chief deputy when Governor Bentley appointed him Monday.
Kilgore says Sheriff Studdard left a strong foundation at the sheriff's office.
"I think everybody is loyal and dedicated, and sincerely cares about serving the good citizens of the county. And I think we've got a good thing in place, it's just up to me now to keep it in place," Kilgore said.
Studdard retired for health reasons.
