FAYETTE COUNTY, AL (WBRC) -

Investigators are still looking into a deadly house fire that claimed the lives of an elderly couple in Fayette this weekend.

A home just north of Fayette on County Road 32 caught on fire around 4 a.m. Saturday, March 23.

Investigators have identified the couple killed as Clive and Ina Williams. Firefighters found their bodies inside the home when they arrived.

Friends said they were both disabled and had lived in the home for several years. The fire was so intense, the couple's car was burned beyond recognition.

A deputy state fire marshal says it's too early to determine if the house was struck by lightning during the night. The cause of the fire is still under investigation by the Alabama Fire Marshal's office and the Fayette Fire Department.
