Two people were in serious condition after a wreck at the Memorial Parkway overpass near Sparkman Drive in Huntsville.
A truck dangled off the overpass after a three-vehicle wreck. Crews had to rescue the driver in one of the vehicles after being trapped inside for about 30 minutes.
Investigators said the truck, a Chevy S10, that caused the wreck was traveling the wrong way on Memorial Parkway.
While traveling north in the southbound lanes, the driver of the truck, James Caffery, struck a Volkswagon Passat. The Passat hit the barrier, and the driver had minor injuries.
The S10 continued down the Parkway and hit a Mazda RX-7, driven by Cedric Vickers.
Police said the truck then went on top of the Mazda's hood, and the bed and rear wheels of the S10 went over the side of the Parkway.
Caffery and Vickers were taken to Huntsville Hospital in serious condition.
Huntsville Police report they took blood from Caffery and are awaiting a toxicology report.
Police are continuing to investigate the case.
No arrests have been made.
