Big Bubba's Polish Sausage Sandwich


3 pounds Italian sausage links

1 cans whole peeled tomatoes

1 can crushed tomatoes

1 cans tomato sauce

1/4 lb. of ground beef (browned and drained) 

1 teaspoon seasoning

1 tablespoon white sugar

2 large red & yellow bell peppers, thickly sliced

Sliced mushrooms (optional)

2 large onions, thickly sliced

Hoagie buns


  1. Cut the sausages apart into individual links if necessary, place the sausage links into a large skillet over medium heat, and brown them on all sides. Set the sausages aside, reserving the pan drippings.
  2. Pour the whole tomatoes, crushed tomatoes, and tomato sauce into a large saucepan with a lid; stir in the seasoning salt, sugar, and onion powder. Bring the mixture to a boil; add the cooked sausages, cooked ground beef, pan drippings, green peppers, and onions. Reduce heat to low, cover, and simmer until the vegetables are very tender and the sauce has thickened, about 2 hours. Or, sauté peppers and onion in top of stove in add olive oil. Add the others ingredients. Serve on hoagie buns.
