Today marks a somber anniversary for Alabama.
It was 15 years ago today that an F-5 tornado swept across the state. It was responsible for major damage in Tuscaloosa, Jefferson and St. Clair Counties. 34 people were killed.
The storm is what led weather officials to put the E-F ranking system into place.
