A lot of finishing touches are being made at the new Regions Field stadium in Birmingham.
A ribbon cutting ceremony was originally scheduled to take place Monday, but city leaders moved it to Wednesday just before the opening game. They say it will allow Governor Robert Bentley to be there to take part in the ceremony as well as the big game.
The new stadium not only has city and state leaders buzzing, the community is really rallying around the development as well. At nearby Railroad Park, it is what most people were talking about. They hope it will help bring new life to the downtown area.
The first pitch is expected to be thrown in front of a sold out crowd. The Barons will face off against the Mississippi Braves at 7:05 p.m. on Wednesday night.
Right now, they are two and two after playing four games in Montgomery. They will face off against the Montgomery Biscuits once again Monday night.
