Jefferson County sheriff's deputies have captured two men suspected of being involved in a rape, robbery and kidnapping from the weekend.
Authorities say the two men "turned on their friends" and it resulted in the rape of an 18-year-old woman.
Both men are now in custody. Scott Charles Blaisdell, a 48-year-old from Fairfield, is being held in the Jefferson County Jail on a $255,000 bond.
This afternoon authorities arrested the other suspect, 26-year-old Codi Wayne Miller of Dora, at a Wal-Mart in Forestdale. He's currently being questioned.
Deputies say around 2:30 p.m. Saturday afternoon, Blaisdell and Miller were at the Birmingport grocery store on Birmingport Road when they ran into the two victims, a 22-year-old male and his 18-year-old girlfriend.
The couple were mild acquaintances of the suspects, knowing Blaisdale and Miller only by their nicknames "Blade" and "Socks."
The two suspects told the couple they knew where some money was hidden off an old dirt road and that if the couple drove them there, they'd share the money with them.
The couple agreed but once they got to Flat Top Road, there was no money. Instead, the suspects cut the male victim on the neck and tied him to a tree.
Then one of the men, believed to be Blaisdell, raped the 18-year old victim and took her from the scene in the victim's car.
The male victim managed to free himself and flagged down a driver from the main road who took him to a convenience store to call for help.
Christian said law enforcement agencies were notified to look out for the stolen vehicle and the kidnapped woman. Officials found the victim's car in the parking lot of a Wal-Mart in Brent and found the female victim inside Wal-Mart later that evening.
Christian said Blaisdell was caught on surveillance video leaving Wal-Mart once law enforcement got to the scene. Authorities searched the area with a K9 team, but Blaisdell managed to escape. Bibb County deputies captured him a few hours later as he tried to hitchhike out of Brent.
Blaisdell has been charged with rape, first degree robbery, second degree assault and two counts of kidnapping.
Blaisdell has also served time in Massachusetts after being arrested and convicted of rape. He was registered as a Level 3 offender in Massachusetts. So in addition to the charges stemming from the April 6 incident, authorities also plan to charge him with violating the Sex Offender Registration Notification Act in Alabama.
Miller was wanted on charges of first degree robbery and two counts of kidnapping with a bond of $180,000.
