The city of Tuscaloosa has received another $4.1 million from the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development to be used for tornado recovery. The funding is awarded through the Community Development Block Grant.
"This additional grant will help the City of Tuscaloosa continue its recovery and revitalization," Tuscaloosa Mayor Walter Maddox said in a release.
"The resiliency of the people of Tuscaloosa has been impressive and inspirational. However, the City still has unmet needs, and this funding will go very far in helping fulfill those needs," Maddox said.
HUD has previously given the city of Tuscaloosa more than $60.5 million for disaster recovery in the wake of the April 27 tornado. The additional funds bring that total to nearly $65 million.
