The Birmingham Barons say one of the three entrances to Regions Field will not be ready in time for the opening game on Wednesday night.
The 3rd Avenue entrance will be closed on April 10 when the Barons face off against the Mississippi Braves in their first game inside the new ballpark.
"Construction in that area is expected to be completed by the second homestand starting April 20," the Barons posted on their Facebook page Tuesday.
The other two entrances located on 1st Avenue South and 14th Street and the entrance along Railroad Park and 1st Avenue will be open. Gates open at 5 p.m. on April 10 and will open 90 minutes before the first pitch for all other home games.
There are four public parking lots within a five minute walk to stadium. One is near Railroad Park, two are off 12th Street in between 2nd and 3rd avenues, and the fourth is by 18th Street near 5th Avenue. Rounding out the nearly 3,000 parking spots is street parking.
Nick Dobreff, director of media relations for the Barons, says fans need to give themselves plenty of time to become familiar with the area.
"Just like if your exploring some place you've never been before. We recommend you come out a little bit earlier then you normally would to come out to a Barons game just to figure out where you are going to park, explore the stadium, and entrances," he said.
