A Center Point man faces multiple charges after deputies say he fired a gun at a Waffle House employee.
Jefferson County authorities say Wynston Ellis, 21, got into a fight with his ex-girlfriend in the parking lot of the Waffle House in Pinson. During the argument, Ellis slapped the woman in the face, according to Chief Deputy Randy Christian with the Jefferson County Sheriff's Office.
A male Waffle House employee went outside and asked Ellis to leave the property. Ellis responded by pulling out a pistol and shooting at the employee. The bullet missed, and Ellis fled from the scene in a car with another man and woman. Officials said he fired another shot into the air as they were driving away.
Law enforcement agencies were notified to be on the lookout for the vehicle that Ellis got into. Authorities stopped the car on Center Point Road at Westchester Drive and found Ellis as a passenger. A handgun was also found inside.
Ellis has been charged with carrying a pistol without a license, public intoxication and two counts of third degree domestic violence.
He is being held in the Jefferson County Jail on a $18,500 bond. Chief Deputy Christian says more charges could be coming and the case remains under investigation.
