Cash, drugs and guns seized in Tuscaloosa drug bust

TUSCALOOSA, AL (WBRC) -

Authorities arrested a man and a woman on multiple drug charges Tuesday night following a six-month long investigation, Tuscaloosa Police said Wednesdsay.

West Alabama Narcotics Task Force agents raided a home in 3200 block of E Hargrove Road around 5:30 p.m. Tuesday, April 16 after obtaining a search warrant.

Inside the home, agents found 164 grams of marijuana, more than $26,000 in cash and eight guns. Of the firearms, four were assault rifles, three were shotguns and one was a handgun, Sgt. Brent Blankley with TPD said.

Agents arrested Matthew Martindale Colson, 32, and Elizabeth Helen Dovey, 23. Police say both suspects are from Tuscaloosa.

Colson is charged with first degree possession of marijuana and possession of drug paraphernalia. Dovey faces charges of distribution of a controlled substance within three miles of a school, first degree unlawful possession of marijuana and possession of drug paraphernalia.

Colson's bond is $20,000 and Dovey's is $50,000. Both suspects have been booked into the Tuscaloosa County Jail. Officials say more charges could be filed against Colson as the investigation continues.
