LINCOLN COUNTY, TN (WAFF) -

April 22nd marks six months since a series of horrific murders that began in Lincoln County, Tennessee and ended in Madison County, Alabama.

This investigation may go to a new level at any moment.

October 22, 2012, Chabreya Campbell, her son Rico Ragland, and her friend Amber McCaulley were found dead in a home in Fayetteville.

A short time later, the body of Jessica Brown was found in her home not far from the first scene.

Later that night, Jeffrey Pope was shot and killed inside his home in Huntsville.

The next morning, the man who was the common link between all the suspects, Warren Crutcher, was found dead in a field in Hazel Green.

For weeks after the crime, deputies combed through fields and ditches between the crime scenes but kept a tight lid on what was going on in the investigation.

Investigators did announce they had two persons of interest in jail on unrelated charges but still will not publicly identify them or comment on how they might be linked to the killings.

The Tennessee Bureau of Investigations is leading the investigation with the help of the Lincoln County and Madison County Sheriff's Departments.

Lincoln County District Attorney Robert Carter confirmed forensic lab results are in his office that may include DNA and cell phones records.

He said because two persons of interest remain in the Madison County Jail with no way of getting out, they can take their time building the case.

"The next step is taking what we think we know and what the information means and putting it into some format that a jury would take and understand and get some value out of. That is essential in the final steps before you would make a charge or indict these individuals," said Carter.

Charges are expected to be filed soon.
