Students and staff at ASU are working to send a message without speaking - they want Dr. Joseph Silver to return as President at Alabama State University.
A number of people lined the sidewalk of Harris Way in silent protest on Tuesday to demonstrate support, solidarity and determination for Dr. Silver's return as President of ASU.
Silver was placed on paid administrative leave in November 2012 and eventually came to a mutual separation agreement with the university. Silver settled his terms of employment with ASU for $685,000.
Alabama Governor Robert Bentley has since asked the ASU Board of Trustees to form a search committee to find ASU's next president.
Dr. William H. Harris, former President of ASU, is currently serving as Interim President.
