Jefferson County commissioners are considering hiring a state Supreme Court justice for the county attorney position.
Former Jefferson County attorney Jeff Sewell agreed to an involuntary retirement deal last week with the county.
If Justice Michael Bolin is selected as the next county attorney, there will be an empty seat on the state's supreme court. Gov. Bentley would then appoint a new justice for Bolin's position.
Commissioners gave notice of an administrative committee meeting set for Thursday at 11:15 a.m. If the suggestion to hire Bolin passes, it would be place on the agenda for the commission meeting immediately following the committee meeting, then put to a vote.
