A former University of Alabama president is now seeking a similar position at another school.
Doctor Guy Bailey served as president of the University of Alabama for just a few weeks back in the fall. Bailey abruptly stepped down, citing his wife's health concerns. Shortly after, the university confirmed that he would stay at his full presidential pay through August of this year.
Now, Bailey is interviewing for another job at New Mexico State University. He told a local newspaper that his wife is now healthier than she has been in years. Bailey is one of five finalists for the job.
Before coming to Alabama, Bailey was president of Texas Tech University. He talked about his presidential experience at his job interview Wednesday.
"I like to tell people I'm not looking for my first presidency, I've already had my first and second I'm looking for my last one," Bailey said.
Back in November, FOX6 reported that even though Bailey was not still president at UA, he is technically on leave through August, keeping him at a $500,000+ salary. After Bailey left, Dr. Judy Bonner, who had served as interim president, took on the role full time.
