A restaurant many consider a staple in downtown Montgomery is celebrating 96 years in business.
Chris' Hot Dogs has been family owned and operated since 1917. Its green and white awning serves as a permanent mark on Dexter Ave. in the minds of many.
The business originally started as curbside service only and has been serving the same recipes to its hungry patrons for nearly a century.
Chris' added its dining room back in the 1940's, and through the 1960's it was a 24 hour bar and grill frequented by Hank Williams. The business's website says, "Of course, Hank didn't usually last the whole night before Uncle Chris kicked him out."
